Jansen Harkins Takes a Huge Hit from Evander Kane and Does Not Return to the Game

The game was already out of reach for the Penguins when Harkins took a big hit from Kane. During the second period of the Oilers game, Jarkens attempted to play a couple of shifts, but did not return for the third.

Sullivan Tells Media Harkins is Being Evaluated at This Time

After the game, Mike Sullivan said that Harkins will be evaluated for a upper-body injury.

Harkins Injury Comes at a Desperate Time for the Struggling Penguins

The Penguins are still down Guentzel and Rust and losing another forward while on a 3-game losing streak is devastating. We will wait and see what the outcome is for Harkins.

Harkins has been a solid, but unproductive fourth liner for the Pens. His contributions to the team have been defensively getting the puck out of the Penguins zone. In 42 games, Harkins has yet to score a goal, and has just 4 assists.

Jansen Harkins joined the team in the preseason as a waiver signing and looked to be a good addition at the time. After earning a spot in the lineup, he has not shown any production value.

The Penguins are off on Monday and head home to play the Columbus Blue Jackets Tuesday Night at PPG Paints Arena.
