Penguins Odds To Make The Playoffs Increase After Big Win Against Detroit

The Pittsburgh Penguins are not out of the race just yet. In fact, it seems that their odds have increased slightly to make the playoffs after their decisive win against the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday evening.

Greg Wyshynski posted on X, via Stathletes, the updated odds of making the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year, and the Penguins bumped up from around 3% earlier this month to 6.9%.

In the wild card race for the Eastern Conference, the Penguins are behind the Red Wings now by just 5 points for the final wild card spot. Between the Penguins and the Red Wings are the Capitals and the Islanders.

Although The Odds Sound Low, The Opportunity Is Still There For The Penguins

Tied with the Pens are the Buffalo Sabres, and the New Jersey Devils, who the Penguins play in a key wild card race matchup Tuesday night, are right behind both teams by just one point.

Although the odds do not sound good, if the Penguins can win some key games coming up on their three-game road trip before returning home for back-to-back games against the Blue Jackets, they can make some ground.
