Crosby Still Playing At An Elite Level For The Penguins

As we have seen for most of the 2023-24 season, Crosby is far from finished. The speculation does have some wondering if he will want to go elsewhere.

The analysts who mostly call for his trade or signing somewhere else are way off. The Penguins and Crosby are looking to ink an extension by July 1st, according to Dave Pagnotta.

Crosby Will Be In The Last Year Of His Current Deal At The Start Of The 2024-25 Season

Next season will be Crosby's last in his current deal that was signed back in 2012, earning him $8.7 million a season. When free agency hits on July 1st, the thought is that he will finalize an extension very quickly.

Sid will be 37 when the 2024-25 season begins, but played very good hockey this year. In 67 games this year, he has scored 33 goals and 35 assists for 68 total points despite a draught that lasted the last 11 of those games. He finally broke that streak with a goal against the Red Wings.

By the time a new deal would take place, Crosby would be 38 years old. It would most likely be his final deal with the NHL as he looks to take the Penguins as far as he can, for as long as he can play.
