The Pittsburgh Penguins have now lost three games in a row on their West Coast road trip. They return home with an off day on Monday before returning to play Tuesday night against he Columbus Blue Jackets.
It seems that their playoff hopes are all but gone at this point. They sit well outside the wild card spot and those games in hand that they had, are being wasted.Kyle Dubas is Ready to Start the Trading Before the Deadline Friday
This could be a busy week for the Penguins GM Kyle Dubas. The teams play on this road trip may have made his decisions easier regarding what to do with the team.

Yohe wrote in his article:
«Everyone will focus on the deadline Friday, but don't be shocked if Dubas starts making moves before then. «I could see four or five players being moved from this team easily. I doubt Dubas wants to wait until Friday, for logistical reasons, to start trading everyone.»

Core Guys and Those with No Trade Clause in Contracts Will Likely Remain on the Team
The Penguins have their grouping of core players, such as Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, Erik Karlsson, and with a no trade clause, Bryan Rust.
At times the Penguins looked like a team that could make the playoffs. But now, the chances are very slim.
As Yohe put it in his article:
«The Penguins are about to be dismantled. «And really, their play this season has given Dubas no other choice.»
Penguins Play Has No Been Consistent Enough to Make Much of a Case to Wait and See Any More
Since Dubas had his press conference covering what he was waiting to see from the team, the Penguins started off winning three games in a row, to then lose three. That .500 hockey is not going to cut it to get them back into contention.
The Pens are 27-24-8, putting them nine points out of a playoff spot.
