Current Pittsburgh Penguins General Manager Kyle Dubas Remains silent on how he felt about being fired from the General Manager position in Toronto.

Kyle Dubas seemed happy in Toronto and once he was fired, he was quickly picked up by the Pittsburgh Penguins. But Maple Leafs fans are still curious about his side of the story.

Just days before he was let go by Toronto, he indicated he would not want to be anywhere else. His goal seemed to be to stay in Toronto even with his contract coming to an end.

But before his contract officially did end, the Leafs cut ties with the GM. The story was never told by either side, and Dubas has his reasons for keeping silent on the matter.

The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun was able to speak to Dubas at a GM meeting in Florida and asked about it. It was clear that Dubas did not want to open up about the firing, and switched topics are quickly as he could.

«I just simply don't want to create any waves in my wake because they impact a lot of people who I care about and loved working with,» Dubas said. «Unloading my personal feelings is what a lot of people want and it may make me feel good in the short run but it's not of any benefit to the Pittsburgh Penguins or the dozens of players and staff in Toronto who I want to see have success.»

Dubas Spoke Of His New Focus With The Penguins As His Main Priority

It was clear that Dubas was looking forward and wanting to focus on the Penguins. He is looking to improve the team this off season as they inch their way to missing the playoffs for the second year in a row, first under Dubas. Even with the Penguins not improving from last year, Dubas still stands behind his head coach and direction of the Penguins

As far as Toronto and their fans go, they still seem to take shots at their former GM as the Maple Leafs move forward towards a playoff spot this year. Dubas tells LeBrun that he is fine with any criticism thrown his way.
