Nathan Mckinnon has high praise for Sidney Crosby after Avs/Pens clash

Colorado's Nathan McKinnon and good friend to Sidney Crosby had some telling words about Crosby and his gameplay.

After the game where Crosby showed off his dominating play, McKinnon had very high praise for the Penguins captain.


In a game that the Penguins should have had locked up for the full two points, Colorado had to storm back, and as McKinnon put it, needed a full team effort to get the overtime win.

McKinnon Notches Three Points To Pass Joe Sakic In Avalanche Point Totals

In this victory, McKinnon also displayed why he is one of the elite NHL stars. With his three points in the third period, McKinnon jumped to 122 points to pass Joe Sakic's 120-point season as a Colorado Avalanche. The franchise record is 139 points held by Peter Stastny when the Avalanche were the Quebec Nordiques.

Sid himself carried the Penguins, contributing to each of the 4 team goals, with three assists and one goal for himself. This amazing goal was his fourth point of the night. During this lose to the Avalanche Crosby was able to surpass Wayne Gretzky with his 584th goal, claiming 7th all time for goals scored with one franchise.

The Penguins Showed Early Dominance That They Could Not Maintain

Early on the Penguins came out strong, with Jesse Puljujarvi scoring at the 7:53 mark in the first period. Bryan Rust added a goal also in the first for the Penguins to take a 2-0 lead.

The Penguins were able to get two more goals and take a 4-0 lead, but the Avalanche were not out of it. They poured on the offense and were not only able to tie the game, but win in overtime 5-4.


It does not get any easier for the Penguins, as the return home for a game Tuesday night against Jake Guentzel and the Carolina Hurricanes. Game time is set for 7pm EST.
