Pittsburgh Penguins prospect acquired in the Jake Guentzel trade, Vasily Ponomarev will be out of action for a few weeks after suffering an injury in the AHL.

During his first stretch within the Penguins organization, Ponomarev recored 1 goal in his first four games.
The russian forward is currently viewed as one of the top prospects in the Penguins organization thanks to being acquired in the Jake Guentzel trade from the Carolina Hurricanes. Vasily Ponomarev acquired in Jake Guentzel trade
According to Tony Androckitis of Inside AHL Hockey, Ponomarev was an early departure when the WBS Penguins took on the Syracuse Crunch. Androckitis says this injury must carry more severity since injuries are often labeled as day-to-day.
Ponomarev had a brief stinct in the NHL where he recored two points in two NHL games with his former team the Carolina Hurricanes.
